Films on fight to reclaim our natural world

TWO more environmental documentaries are to be screened at the Regal Picturehouse in Henley.

Elephant Mother on June 9 at 2pm and Wilding on June 12 at 8pm are the latest in the Green Screen series promoted by the Greener Henley environmental group.

In Elephant Mother Thai conservationist Lek Chailert takes on the tourist industry to rescue abused elephants held in captivity. The screening will be followed by a question and answet sessions with Chailert and the film’s award-winning director, Jes Lewis.

The panel will feature Maria Mossman, founder of Action for Elephants, which spearheaded the closure of the ivory trade in the UK.

Wilding is based on Isabella Tree’s bestselling book with the same title. It tells the story of a young couple who inherit Knepp, a 400-year-old estate that’s failing.

The couple decide to place their fate of their farm in the hands of nature. Ripping down the fences and renewing the soil, they set the land back to the wild in one of Europe’s most significant rewilding experiments.
