Bickering brothers

THE Progress Theatre in Reading is putting on a play by the writer of In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Banshees of Inisherin in a run that starts tonight
(Friday).

Part of the Connemara trilogy and set in the western Irish town of Leenane, Martin McDonagh’s story, The Lonesome West, looks at two bickering brothers, Valene and Coleman, who are living in their father’s house after his recent death.

The two siblings argue over everything from potato crisps to dogs’ ears in ways that are sometimes hilarious and sometimes violent.

Coleman is played by Damien Passmore and Valene is played by Paul Gittus. The character of Father Welsh is played by Adam Wells and the part of Girleen is Imogen
Lilley.
