Lovers look back

PROGRESS Theatre’s next production is based on a book by one of the
co-writers of the latest Bridget Jones film.

Lovesong, by Abi Morgan, tells the story of a long-
running relationship between William and Margaret, or Billy and Maggie.

The two lovers are shown in their early twenties, at the beginning of their romance, and later on in their 40-year marriage, looking back. The exuberance of youth and the introspection of old age meet, intertwined in the idiosyncrasies and life events in their marriage and the passing of time.

The story was inspired by T S Eliot’s poem, The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock.

• Lovesong is at the Progress Theatre in The Mount, Reading, from March 21 to 29 at 7.45pm, with Saturday matinées at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £15 adults, £12 concessions from progresstheatre.co.uk
