THE post office in Emmer Green has been refurbished.
The business in the Milestone Way Precinct was officially re-opened by Reading East MP Rob Wilson.
Postmaster Andul Bajwa has added a third till next to the retail till to speed up the service for customers when the two post office counters are busy. The branch has also started opening on Saturday afternoons.
Mr Wilson said: The Post Office is such a vital part of the community and its important that branches are sufficiently modernised and adapted to respond to the needs of local residents. I wish the branch all the best for the future.
Mr Bajwa said: The branch now looks clean, modern and airy. The extra till will make it quicker to serve customers and Saturday afternoon opening will also make a difference. Over the coming months I will also be increasing the range of retail goods.
Mark Jacobs, Post Office senior stakeholder manager, said: We are confident this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, and marks a commitment to no more branch closures.
