20mph limit proposal

A NEW 20mph speed limit could be introduced within Bix parish, including Lower and Middle Assendon.

Oxfordshire County Council, the highways authority, says the change from the current 30mph would make the village safer and more attractive to walk and cycle.

A section of the existing 30mph speed limit on the B480 between Lower and Middle Assendon would remain. The 40mph speed limit on the A4130 running past Bix would also be unaffected, despite five fatal accidents and eight major incidents in 15 years.

Bix and Assendon Parish Council has been considering possible traffic-calming measures on the A4130 and the B480. These include rumble wave surfaces, yellow surrounds to speed limit signs, speed limit countdown signs and chicanes.
