Decision due on crossing

CAMPAIGNERS for a pedestrian crossing on a Henley road could find out next week if they have won.

Henley Town Council has earmarked £30,000 towards the cost of a crossing on Greys Road but it needs to be agreed by Oxfordshire County Council.

Councillor Elizabeth Hodgkin raised the issue with David Clack, area steward for the county council, at a meeting of the town council’s traffic advisory committee last week.

She said: “I am hoping this will be going forward and will be seeking a quotation from Oxfordshire County Council for a zebra crossing.”

Mr Clack replied: “What we need to do is make sure the type of crossing is suitable for the traffic using that road. If you send me the specific details I will send it on for you and I would expect it to be turned around within a week.”
