WORK to replace the footbridge at Goring station will begin in October, writes James Burton.
A taller structure is needed so that overhead cables can be installed for the electrification of the Great Western main line to Oxford.
The work will take about three months to complete and is expected to cost about £2million.
Network Rail says it is still considering the best way to minimise disruption and will announce more details in the next few weeks.
It is not known whether the station will close or whether a temporary bridge will be built between the four platforms.
