Camera moved to increase crossing safety

THE speed camera in Shiplake has been moved.

It has been switched from opposite the Plowden Arms pub, where it pointed towards Reading, to outside the entrance to Shiplake College, where it points towards Henley.

Oxfordshire County Council agreed to the move following requests from the college and Shiplake Parish Council.

Tudor Taylor, who chairs the parish council, said: “We had a lot of support from the college with this. It was ridiculous having the camera pointing out of the village in the first place.

“The parish council pushed for it to be done because it now slows down cars at the junction of the college where kids cross the road.”
