A hundred years ago...

LAST Thursday evening, the congregational hall in Henley was comfortably filled with a most appreciative audience composed of members of the Henley Horticultural Society and the Henley Literary Society to hear a lecture on hardy and half-hardy annuals by Mr Frank Townsend, of Reading. The Rev E S Spooner proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Townsend for his instructive and interesting lecture and for bringing such a fine lot of pictures.

The Co-Operative Society held a whist drive and dance at the town hall on Wednesday evening for members and friends and the whole affair was a gigantic success. The arrangements were made by an energetic committee of men, while a number of the lady members worked hard in providing refreshments.

The following alterations will be made at Henley post office on and from March 12. Mail to London, Reading and all parts, present clearance 8.15am, future 9.20am; London, Reading and all parts, the present clearance at 11am will be discontinued. There will be some slight alteration in the times of clearance from town letterboxes. For new times, see notice plates.
