CAR crime has reached an all-time high as thieves profit from rich pickings in Henley. Latest figures show that the theft of both cars and goods from vehicles are on the increase. Last month, 78 offences involving vehicles were committed, 63 of which were theft of goods and 11 involved the theft of a car. Police believe that the recent spell of good weather is one of the main reasons behind the crime spree.

Henley could lose up to 40 parking spaces if plans put forward by the architect of the River & Rowing Museum are approved. In a letter to the town council, David Chipperfield complained about the damage to the looks of the museum caused by the “issue of parking in front of the building”. He said: “I intend to put forward proposals to re-landscape this area.”

Young footballers are devastated after thieves stole kit worth £500. Santa Sangshee, manager of the Henley Colts under 13 squad, discovered his Vauxhall Astra had been stolen from the Tesco car park in Henley on Monday. All the team’s equipment, including a set of shirts and six footballs, had been locked in the boot.
