IN one of the heats of Sonning Regatta on Saturday, a canoe occupied by L Norcott and T Edwards was overturned. The prow of the canoes struck Norcott on the head and it was seen that he was in difficulties. Edwards, unaware of his partner’s danger, was endeavouring to right the canoe when he was notified by megaphone that Norcott was in need of assistance. Edwards reached Norcott just in time and held his head above water until help arrived.

The kindness and generosity of Colonel Leonard Noble was once again demonstrated on Wednesday when he gave a garden party to Henley YMCA at Harpsden Court. Among the party were several members of the Kidmore End Church Lads’ Brigade.
