Additional brown bin collection

Additional brown bin collection

RESIDENTS of South Oxfordshire with a brown garden waste bin are being offered an extra collection.

They can put out up to four additional sacks next to their brown bin for collection on their normal collection day between Monday and November 10.

South Oxfordshire District Council says the extra waste must go in standard sized 60-litre sacks and should only contain natural garden waste such as cut grass, plants or branches.

Alternatively, it can be placed in boxes or containers totalling no more than a standard binfull. Any rubble or builders’ waste bags will not be collected.

All the garden waste collected will be taken to a facility in Wallingford to be turned into compost for sale to local farmers.

Councillor Sue Cooper, cabinet member for environment, said: “If you’re not able to put your extra garden waste on your home compost, please put it in a sack or box and leave it by your brown bin on your next collection day.”
