Village fete and show returns

NEW classes have been introduced in the produce flower and craft show at this year’s Woodcote village fete.

The fete will take place on the village green on Saturday, September 14 with the show in the village hall.

The new classes include brassica in the vegetables category, a sewn apron in the handicrafts section and an image of a sporting event in the photography category.

The themed class in this year’s flower section is “An arrangement in a shoe” and the set recipe for baking is gingerbread.

Pictures of the entrants in the tallest sunflower competition should be emailed two days before the event but a photo of the applicant standing next to the plant will be accepted on the day.

Attractions at the fete will include a dog show hosted by Groom on the Green, tug of war, face-painting, a slide and a bouncy castle.

A barbecue will be provided by the Friends of Woodcote Primary School and there will be a pizza van, ice cream van, coffee truck and other refreshments.

Berkshire reptile encounters will be at the fete between 1pm and 3pm.

There will be performances by Cold Harbour, Baum and Maggs & Taylor and a magic show by Jester Giggles.

Raffle prizes have been donated by local businesses.

The fete raises money for the village hall.
