SHIPLAKE College parents enjoyed a summer cocktail party in the prize-giving marquee used at the end of term.
This was a move away from the traditional ball with a dance floor and DJ, high-top tables and bar stools scattered around and some sofa “chill-out” areas.
Guests enjoyed the more informal dress code, with colourful attire being the go-to option. The evening started with cocktails on the lawn and live music provided by pupil-band Shockwave, comprising Henry Johnston, Felix Collar and Leo Slowikowski. A magician roamed among the guests, performing tricks.
There was wine roulette and a champagne raffle, which raised £5,000 for Oxfordshire charity Style Acre, which works to enhance the lives of adults with learning disabilities and autism.
There was a selection of canapés and small plate and bowl food provided by Thomas Franks.
Cindy Harper, who chairs the Shiplake Parents’ Association, said: “The party was a huge success and the change in format from the usual black-tie dinner was extremely well received. Thanks to the amazing catering team for coming up with such a fun food and cocktail menu and to Sarah Mullens and the rest of the PA team for pulling it all together.”
