The Royal Borough has been re-accredited with a national recognition award for its support for serving personnel, reservists, veterans and their families.
The Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme recognises organisations that support members of the armed forces in the community.
The council has been re-accredited with the Armed Forces Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, which is given to organisations that have demonstrated ‘exemplar levels of support’.
The award recognises the Royal Borough’s work to ‘create a positive working environment’ for veterans, reservists, and forces' families through ‘inclusive policies’ and promoting both the Cadet movement and the work of the Armed Forces in the community.
Councillor Neil Knowles, the council’s Armed Forces Champion, said: “This award demonstrates the depth of our commitment to the Armed Forces community here in the borough.
“It reflects years of practical support and advocacy for those who serve and have served, and I’m proud of the collaborative effort across the council to make this possible.
"This is a great achievement but we’re not complacent and will continue our support for the Armed Forces community.”
Windsor is home to two barracks, housing the Coldstream Guards and the Welsh Guards.
It is also home to 94 Signal Squadron (Berkshire Yeomanry) of the Army reserve.
