THE sixth and seventh legs of Remenham’s Chairman’s Series were held over the previous two weeks.
Ian Chaplin was winner of the first event at Maidenhead’s New Farm. Chaplin fished the pole across to the central island with pellet and red maggot landing a mixture of carp, tench, chub, roach and small barbel weighing in a total of 81lb 2oz.
In second place was Dick Shillitto with 45lb 12oz which included carp tench and barbel caught on the pole at 11 metres with maggot and pellet and in third place was Roger Howard with a mixed catch of 28lb caught on the pole with worm.
On Sunday Wood Lane near Iver provided the venue with the Island Lake being fished. With a sharp drop in temperature overnight the resident carp were reluctant to feed and bites were of a premium throughout the match. Ade Bowles did manage to tempt the carp as he landed several on the pole fishing pellet tight across to the island and weighing in a winning total of 42lb.
In second position was Mark Garnett who targeted roach on the pole at seven metres with caster catching steadily through the day and weighing in 24lb 8oz. In third place was Brian Bowles with two carp for 11lb caught on the method feeder with pellet.
