Police in Twyford have issued an appeal for help to find an ‘incredibly courageous’ man who intervened during a ‘violent struggle’ to help officers in need.

The Good Samaritan leapt to action ‘in the middle of the chaos’ at Waitrose in London Road, to assist police officers grappling with several criminal suspects on Thursday evening.

The force said the unknown man had ‘stepped into the fray to assist the officers in apprehending these suspects’ and deserved recognition for his efforts.

He is described as having a bald head and wearing a bright yellow coat.

A police statement on social media said: “If you are this individual, or if you know who he is, please come forward.

“Your actions were incredibly courageous, and the community would like to ensure you’re recognised.

“If so, please contact us via the webform or through 101, quoting reference 43260023139, or ask to speak to PC 2287 Young. Thank you."
