THREE Henley College students are celebrating after winning the Sportscover National Cup final, as part of the Reading Rockets basketball team.
Reading Rockets defeated Newham Neptunes 93-72 at the University Arena at Worcester University.
Liam Carpenter, Matt Davis and George Emms are all students on the AASE (Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence) course at the college and are members of the senior men’s programme at Reading Rockets. They also play for the U18 premier team for the Reading club.
Director of coaching at Reading Rockets, Matt Johnson, praised the Henley College trio. Johnson said: “These three people have worked so hard this season and I am delighted for each one of them, not only to be part of the day and the experience, but to also be able to play in a senior national final.
“The three of them fully deserve it and I hope the opportunity for them comes around again soon.”
