Aspiring comedian, 25, dies after four-year cancer fight

AN aspiring comedian has passed away, aged 25.

Lewis Goodall, from Nettlebed, had been receiving cancer treatment since being diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2020.

His father George, 53, and mother, Joanne, 57, were his full-time carers at their family home for the last two months of his life.

Mr Goodall, a self-employed painter and decorator, said: “Lewis passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 6 at 7am.

“He will be fondly remembered for his love of comedy, meeting Suzi Ruffell and Fern Brady.

“His battle with cancer lasted four years and he was amazing throughout his treatment.

“He was extremely brave during four surgeries and still found time for cracking jokes with doctors and nurses. Making people laugh was so important to him.” In June, Lewis saw Brady, his favourite comedian, at the HLTH is WLTH comedy gala at Henley Rugby Club.

She said: “I very clearly remember meeting Lewis and his family and they were really lovely people.

“Lewis was so unwell I was amazed he was at the gig. I nearly cancelled my show because I had just got back from America and was jetlagged so I am really glad I didn’t and our paths crossed.

“We had a chat about both being autistic and what it’s like to be in a hospital environment with autism with bright lights and nurses touching you etc. The thing that makes me laugh is when he got me to sign his copy of my book, he asked for my email or phone number.

“I normally would never give this out but he told me another comedian gave him her email, so I immediately wrote my contact details down.”
