Clean bill for nursery

A NURSERY in Gallowstree Common has been awarded five stars out of five for food hygiene.

Little Birches Nursery & Preschool on Horsepond Road was inspected last month under the Scores on the Doors scheme.

The score means that its hygiene standards are “very good” and fully comply with the law.

Officials from South Oxfordshire District Council said the nursery had a “good” level of safety and hygiene and they observed only some minor non-compliance issues while handling food.

Food safety management systems were “good” and there was an appreciation of hazards and control measures. Cleanliness and the condition of the facilities and building were “very good”.

The New Inn in Chalkhouse Green Road, Kidmore End, was given two stars, meaning some improvements are necessary, following an inspection on June 27.

Scores on the Doors is a national scheme run by the Food Standards Agency and operated by local councils.
