Much-loved footpath fenced off

Editor, — I walk regularly in Lambridge Wood in Henley and am horrified by the huge gate and fence that have sprung up to block a much-loved footpath, one that has been used for at least 50 years by local residents.

And this may only be the start. We may see more gates and fences going up, sealing off other parts of the wood. The public would then only be able to walk along the relatively few legally established rights of way — and do so between high fences on either side.

What a depressing prospect! -— Yours faithfully,

John Carrell
