Paella and pop music on offer at village’s Party on the Pitch

ABOUT 200 people attended a summer party in Ewelme.

Party on the Pitch, which was held on Ewelme Common, could now become a regular event.

Music was provided by the Zefrones, who played a selection of covers from the past four decades.

Festival-goers enjoyed a paella supper, which was included in the ticket price, and treats from Daisy’s vintage ice-cream van.

Other attractions included the launch of Persian Fire, a new shisha hire business based in the village, and a raffle of products and services from local businesses.

The event raised about £3,000, which will be split between 16 charities and projects based in the village and the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Co-organiser Ella Pickard, who lives in Ewelme, said: “We did what we set out to do which was bring the village together.

“Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and there was such a lovely atmosphere. We had people from five to 85 on the dance floor.”

She said she felt under pressure to repeat the event following lots of positive feedback but her two co-organisers, Sam Gillman and Abi Winfield, are returning to full-time work this month so planning it would be more difficult.

Miss Pickard said: “I definitely want to do it again but I am not sure whether if we do it every year people will lose interest or whether it would help build it.”
