IN a tightly contested Home Counties Premier League Division 1 encounter last Saturday, hosts WARGRAVE and GREAT BRICKHILL played out a thrilling draw.

Great Brickhill, having won the toss, elected to bat and posted a competitive 269-8 from their 64 overs. Taran Toor (59) and Aum Raykar (43) set a solid foundation with an opening stand of 108, but it was Jonathan Carter’s composed 79 that anchored the innings and drove the visitors to their eventual total.

Wargrave shared the wickets around with Luke Beaven and Nilesh Bhandari claiming three apiece.

In response, Wargrave’s top order held firm. Rhys D Lewis (39) and Harry Whitworth (39) laid the groundwork before a vital fourth-wicket stand of 100 between Isaac Humphrey (54) and Beaven (62) brought the hosts within striking distance. However, three quick wickets, including both set batters, left Wargrave to settle for a draw at 240-7 after 56 overs.
