Man jailed for burglary after stealing £12,700's worth of perfume

Aaron Ballard, aged 34, of King Street.

A man has been sent to prison for burglary after stealing more than £12,700's worth of perfume from a shop.

Aaron Ballard, aged 34, of King Street, Maidenhead, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary with intent to steal following a hearing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (December 11).

Ballard was sentenced to one year’ imprisonment.

On October 14 and 16, Ballard entered Boots on Maidenhead High Street and stole multiple bottles of perfume and aftershave with a value totalling £12,714.

He was arrested on October 16 and charged with the offences a day later.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Lily Ellis of the priority crime team in Maidenhead, said: “This sentence is the result of an investigation by the local Priority Crime Team.

“We would like to thank the victims of these crimes for their diligence in supporting this investigation, which allowed us to quickly arrest and charge the offender with multiple offences.

“Aaron Ballard was selfish in his actions and showed no regard to the impact on the business. We are pleased he has been held accountable and now has time to reflect on his behaviour.”
