Oratory pupils quick off the mark to retain crown

THE Oratory Prep School retained the overall championship trophy at the Oxfordshire county primary school cross country race held at Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge.

In all there were 12 races for children from year 1 to 6 competing in the 16th running of the event last Saturday.

Henley’s Rupert House and Headington were joint second with Woodcote fourth, Trinity fifth, St Mary’s sixth, Moulsford seventh, RAF Benson eighth and Nettlebed ninth.

The first three positions in each race were as follows:

Year 1: Boys’ — 1 Joey Quinn, Oratory; 2 Deacon Smith, St Mary’s; 3 Wilf Goodson, Kidmore End. Girls’ — 1 Phoebe Soles, Nettlebed; 2 Freya Hammond, Kidmore End; 3 Sophie Leach, Headington.

Year 2: Boys’ — 1 Bryn Griffiths, Goring; 2 Joseph Conway, Nettlebed; 3 Max Bicofski, Sacred Heart. Girls’ — 1 Grace Hollins, Manor House; 2 Jessica Story, Headington; 3 Sophie Langdon, Oratory.

Year 3: Boys’ — 1 Will Nicholson, Woodcote; 2 Max Mortimer, Trinity; 3 Joseph Palmer, Shiplake. Girls’ — 1 Martha Sudbury, Woodcote; 2 Teddy Molner, Rupert House; 3 Alice Young, Headington.

Year 4: Boys’ — 1 Oliver Buff, Moulsford; 2 Lucas Robinson, Moulsford; 3 Gabriel Eapen, Moulsford. Girls’ — 1 Jemima Watson, Rupert House; 2 Kitty Mumme-Young, Headington and Eloise Woulters, Rupert House; 3 Isabella Conway, Nettlebed.

Year 5: Boys’ — 1 George Craven, Oratory; 2 Henry Mainwaring, Oratory; 3 Thomas Leppard, St Mary’s. Girls’ — 1 Emma Turnbull, Headington; 2 Isobel Craven, Oratory; 3 Emily Palmer, Shiplake.

Year 6: Boys’ — 1 Matthew Samson, Woodcote; 2 Harvey Bark, Oratory; 3 Asher Butterfield, Woodcote. Girls’ — 1 Zara Tate, Badgemore; 2 Lucy Lamacraft, Shiplake; 3 Charlotte Sudbury, Woodcote.
