A CROWDFUNDER launched last week to save a theatre in Sonning has raised almost £19,000.
The Mill at Sonning launched the fundraiser in a bid to secure a £125,000 cash injection to ensure it can fully operate during the busy winter season.
The theatre is still operating and on Sunday received news of its nomination for a Fringe Theatre award for The Shadow in the Mirror, an adaptation of a ghost story penned by environmentalist Gerald Durrell.
The nomination recognises Mike Robertson, Simon Slater, Diego Pitarch and the Mill at Sonning for lighting, sound, set and production design.
Owner Sally Hughes said the theatre has also had support from partners within the industry, including help with invoices and a reduction in royalty payments.
Ms Hughes said she was feeling “positive” about the future. She said: “It’s going well but we’ve still got a way to go so we don’t want to take our foot off the pedal.
“We’ve had a complete outpouring of support, particularly from within the business. We just need everybody to keep going to that crowdfunder.” To donate, visit tinyurl.com/7pzt7tsr
