Rupert House have the edge

THE opening race of South Oxfordshire Primary Schools’ cross country winter series took place at Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge last Saturday.

Around 180 pupils took part in the event that has now been running for 20 years. All 12 races, for pupils in years 1 to 6, were closely contested.

At the end of the first round of races, Rupert House lead the competition with 27.5 points, with Shiplake second on 27 and Sacred Heart third on 21.

The results of the races were as follows:

Year 1: Boys’ — 1 Joshua Mattingly, Shiplake; 2 Keagan Malloy, Shiplake; 3 Albie Barnes, Nettlebed. Girls’ — 1 Bethan Palmer, Shiplake; 2 Sienna Lakin, Nettlebed; 3 Harley Millbrook, Whitchurch.

Year 2: Boys’ — 1 Jack Saviour, Whitchurch; 2 Joey Quinn, Sonning Common; 3 Wilf Goodson, Kidmore End. Girls’ — 1 Phoebe Soles, Nettlebed; 2 Alice O’Brien, Trinity; 3 Freya Hammond, Kidmore End.

Year 3: Boys’ — 1 Bryn Griffiths, Goring; 2 Maks Pachowski, Sacred Heart; 3 Joseph Conway, Nettlebed. Girls’ — 1 Isabelle Bromley, Trinity; 2 Emma MacVarish, Kidmore End; 3 Poppy Lindguist, Sacred Heart.

Year 4: Boys’ — 1 William Nicholson, Woodcote; 2 Joseph Palmer, Shiplake; 3 Percy Reed, The Heights. Girls’ — 1 Martha Sudbury, Woodcote; 2 Teddy Molnar, Rupert House; 3 Olivia Greaves, Peppard.

Year 5: Boys’ — 1 Oliver Buff, Moulsford; 2 William Lamacraft, Shiplake; 3 Lucas Robinson, Moulsford. Girls’ — 1 Jemima Watson, Rupert House; 2 Eloise Wouters, Rupert House; 3 Ava Collis, St Mary’s.

Year 6: Boys’ — 1 Isaac Ryder, Caversham; 2 Tom Leppard, St Mary’s; 3 Tristan Doherty, Goring. Girls’ — 1 Elsie Davis, Sonning Common; 2 Emily Palmer, Shiplake; 3 Matilda Graoh, Rupert House.
