GORING UNITED slipped to a 3-0 Division 1 defeat at home to BROTHERS UNITED last Sunday. This was only the visitors’ second win of the season.

In Division 5, MORTIMER moved to the top of the table after running out 3-2 winners at fourth placed HENLEY EXILES.

In a feisty encounter, both teams played some good football in a competitive encounter.

Mortimer took the lead midway through the first half against the run of play. The Exiles got back on terms when a 25-yard volley flew into the top corner by Charlie Saul. Just before half-time Henley got their second when the goalkeeper rushed out of the box and collided with Will Sheard, the loose ball fell to Henry McDonagh who rolled it into an empty net.

Mortimer were the better team in the second period and the constant pressure told as the Exiles couldn’t get out of their own half, resulting in Mortimer scoring two late goals to snatch all three points.
