Hornets left buzzing after edging seven goal thriller

AFC HENLEY HORNETS U14s ran out 4-3 winners in their East Berks League Division 3 clash at EVERSLEY AND CALIFORNIA U14s last Saturday.

Despite the close scoreline, Henley outplayed their opponents for most of the match.

Eversley and California opened the scoring with a ricochet goal to make it 1-0, but Henley responded well.

Luca Dorata equalised for the visitors after running on to a perfectly weighted through ball to finish confidently.

Eversley and California scored again to go 2-1 ahead, but the Hornets kept their composure and responded immediately, with Dorata striking again to level the match at 2-2.

In the second half, the Hornets took control of the game.

Noah Bowen gave Henley the lead before Roman Hepburn finished well from a free kick delivered by Bowen to extend the lead to 4-2.

Late in the game, Eversley and California switched tactics and began launching long balls into the box. Under pressure, a flick-on allowed them to score and make it 4-3, setting up a tense finish.

Henley managed the final minutes superbly to secure all three points.

Elsewhere, AFC HENLEY HOTSPURS U17s went down to a 6-1 defeat at Jubilee Park against BURGHFIELD TRIDENTS U17s.
