GORING Parish Council is hiring a new grounds and facilities manager to manage its open spaces, building and related assets.

The council owns and manages a number of public assets, including two recreation grounds and children’s playgrounds, White Hill burial ground and more than 210 street lamps.

The functions are currently shared between the clerk’s office, contractors and volunteers.

However, increased statutory obligations, maintenance and workload pressure is making the management of these increasingly difficult.

The new employee will work around 20 hours per week and report to the clerk and support committees, including the place and assets working group.

They will carry out inspections and maintenance, manage contractor performances, maintain logs, advise the clerk and liaise with clubs and volunteers.
