PUPILS from Woodcote Primary School were among the schools selected to name a fleet of gritters in Oxfordshire.
They were among three schools which were closest to the county’s gritting depots to contribute to the naming of a fleet of 30 gritters.
Agatha Gritstie, Professor Stephen Thawking and Radiospread are among the names chosen.
The county council’s gritter drivers sifted through about 1,500 suggestions after announcing a competition to name the lorries. Many of the names are inspired by musicians, writers, scientists, Oxfordshire leaders, locations and sports stars.
Other winning names included Sir Winston Chur-chill, Inspector Norse, Sir Roger Ban-ice-ster and King Alfred the Grit.
