A REMARKABLE accident happened in Bell Street on Wednesday shortly after midday. A gentleman was driving a car in the direction of the cross and the sun was so glaring he could hardly see. In passing, his front wheel struck the hub of the wheel of a putt cart which had the effect of knocking his steering gear out of action. The car then mounted the pavement and crashed into a ladies’ bicycle.

The Rev JS Bevan, who has been one of the assistant masters at the Royal Grammar School, is leaving at the end of term to take up the position of curate of St Barnabas, Holloway, London. He will be much missed, especially in recreation at the school, where his keen knowledge of football and cricket has been most helpful.
