HENLEY LADIES 1sts grabbed a shared of the South Central Women’s Premier Division 1 points in their home clash with BOURNEMOUTH WOMEN’S 1sts at Jubilee Park last Saturday.
Henley began with intent, moving the ball well and working hard to break down a disciplined Bournemouth side.
Despite sustained pressure and several promising attacking phases, the visitors edged ahead late in the first quarter.
The second quarter saw Henley raise the tempo but Bournemouth capitalised on a breakaway to extend their lead to 2-0.
Before the half-time whistle, Henley showed real defensive grit as Bournemouth earned a last-gasp short corner.
Refusing to let the match slip away, Henley displayed immense resilience in the closing minutes. A confident run from Emma Jean-Jean into the opposition D forced a foul, earning a penalty flick which was converted to reduce the deficit to 2-1. With momentum firmly on their side, Henley applied relentless late pressure, winning three consecutive short corners. With just 10 seconds remaining, Lucy Jean-Jean struck the equaliser.
HENLEY LADIES 2nds signed off the first half of their Division 2 North season with a 10-1 home win against OXFORD HAWKS 4ths. The impressive performance left Henley sitting second in the league table going into the winter break.
From the first whistle, Henley controlled the game with sharp passing, relentless pressure and good teamwork across the pitch. The goals flowed freely as a result of well-worked team moves, with the squad showcasing both composure and creativity in attack. The midfield dictated the tempo throughout, while the defence remained solid, limiting Oxford Hawks’ chances and ensuring Henley stayed firmly on the front foot.
HENLEY LADIES 3rds beat WYCOMBE 4ths 2-0 to go into the Christmas break in second place in Division 2 Thames.
Henley started the game in dominant fashion, pressing hard and looking to secure an early goal. Strong midfield play controlled the centre of the pitch, forcing the opposition to attack down the wings.
Henley were rewarded with a short corner which they converted to take the lead.
Emily Matthews produced some outstanding hockey for the hosts who added a second goal in the second half to complete the scoreline.
HENLEY LADIES 4ths made it 10 wins out of 10 as they defeated MAIDENHEAD LADIES 5ths 5-0 to remain top of Division 4 Thames with a 100 per cent record.
