‘Grumpy’ Sir Steve

SIR Steve Redgrave had some extra support in the audience for his latest routine on Dancing on Ice on Sunday.

During the televised coverage, cameras cut away to the audience for reaction and picked out fellow Olympic rower James Cracknell, from Henley. The pair had raced together at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, winning gold in the coxless fours.

Cracknell watched as Sir Steve, the former chairman of Henley Royal Regatta, completed a routine inspired by The Godfather with dance partner Vicky Ogden.

Afterwards, host Stephen Mulhern announced Cracknell’s presence who then said: “He must have really hated rowing because I have never seen him smile so much as when he was doing that. He was far more grumpy when he was a rower.”
