Robinson triumphs on Brands Hatch track

HENLEY’S Leo Robinson had a successful final race weekend of the British F4 Championship at Brands Hatch, winning a full set of trophies.

Although the Lambridge Wood Road driver had not previously raced on the Grand Prix circuit, the high-speed corners were clearly to his liking, as he consistently placed towards the top of the timesheets. In the qualifying session that would determine the starting positions, Robinson set the third fastest time.

In the first race, Robinson maintained his position into the first corner, but was under attack from behind for several laps, but held on for a podium place. In the second race, Robinson started strongly overtaking two cars round the outside of the first corner. He maintained his composure for the duration of the 20 minute race to claim his third win of the season.

The final race started in light rain. Having installed a new clutch prior to the start, Robinson made a poor getaway but was given a reprieve when the race was stopped due to an incident. When the race restarted, now on wet tyres, Leo gained a position from the start and challenged for the lead. He eventually settled for second place.
