Elisabeth Cullen
Norden Farm’s summer recital series continues with a Viennese-themed evening featuring works by Mozart and Schubert on Wednesday, July 16.
Summer Recital Series – St John’s Ensemble with Elisabeth Cullen (soprano) features two of Mozart’s major chamber works, including the Kegelstatt Trio – said to have been composed during a game of skittles – and the G minor Quartet, known for its darker, more intense tone.
These are performed alongside Schubert’s Duo and a selection of his final songs, bringing together instrumental and vocal repertoire in one concert.
Soprano Elisabeth Cullen, who currently holds the Santander Universities UK Award, is the featured soloist. She studies voice at the Royal Academy of Music with Mary Nelson.
Cullen is an experienced recitalist and soloist, having performed with choirs such as Marlow Choral Society and at festivals including the Hurley Music and Arts Festival. She is also Solo Cantor at St Mary’s Church in Cadogan Street, London.
The ensemble includes Ron Colyer (violin), Susan Black (viola), Paul Cox (cello) and Caroline Owen (clarinet).
Maidenhead resident and pianist Nigel Wilkinson returns to Norden Farm for the recital. A former senior producer at BBC Radio 3, he is also an examiner for the Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
This concert offers a rare opportunity to hear these Viennese works performed by a blend of rising talent and experienced professionals in an intimate local setting.
Summer Recital Series – St John’s Ensemble with Elisabeth Cullen will show at Norden Farm on Wednesday, July 16 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £19. Under 18s go free.
