CLASSICAL lovers keen to discover lesser-known musicians may enjoy listening to a piece by Czech composer Jan Dismas Zelenka at next Saturday’s concert by the Henley Choral Society, writes Lesley Potter.

Musical director Will Dawes said: “Zelenka was admired by contemporaries such as Bach, but his compositions remained under lock and key for centuries. They were revived and published in Czechoslovakia in the Sixties, but much of his output is still unrecorded.”

You can hear his Litanaie De Venerabili Sacramento at the concert at St Mary’s in Henley on Saturday, February 23. Call (01491) 572795.
