HERE’s a fact to contend with if you’d like to be reminded how old you are, writes Lesley Potter. This year marks a half century of number one hits from Motown.
To celebrate, a show recreating all the glitz, glamour and of course memorable music of that era comes to the Wycombe Swan this weekend. The Magic Of Motown, direct from America, stops off at the theatre as part of its national tour.
“There’s dazzling dance moves and glittering costumes galore,” says show producer, Michael Taylor. “Five-star performances authentically revive the style and sophistication of all the Detroit legends.”
The show features a house band recreating songs by the Temptations, Supremes, Four Tops, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Lionel Richie.
The show, which has been on the road for a decade, plays at the Wycombe Swan tomorrow (Saturday) at 7.30pm. Box office: 01494 512000 or visit www.wycombeswan.co.uk
