FOLK singer Jackie Oates is playing Nettlebed Folk Club on Monday.
Jackie has won two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and been nominated for several more. She has even been the inspiration behind a ‘Jackie Oates’ titled tinted moisturiser on sale in Lush, the worldwide chain of 700 fresh handmade cosmetics stores. She has toured as support to Mercury-nominated folk-pop star Seth Lakeman and has been immortalised as a Jackie Onassis for the 21st century by pop-artist David Owen.
She is a member of the all-star multi-cultural folk band Imagined Village alongside Eliza Carthy, Chris Wood, Martin Carthy and more and she took part in the songwriting house of the Cecil Sharp Project which garnered major features on Radio 3’s World On 3, Radio 4’s Today programme and The Guardian.
In March Jackie released the album Lullabies to be supported by two Lullabies tours in April and October which see her running afternoon lullaby workshops for children up to the age of four each day followed by an evening concert, based around the lullabies theme, for adults.
