AN evening of arias and Christmas songs comes to Fingest Great Barn next Saturday courtesy of the country’s leading chamber opera company.
Members of Diva Opera will entertain the public with In Time For Christmas, a selection of music to get everyone in the mood for the festive season while at the same time raising funds for Helen and Douglas House hospices for children and young people.
Spokeswoman Sylvia Crowther said: “All their performances are fantastic, and this show is only being done once in Fingest, followed by two performances in Devon, so it’s very special.
“Diva have been coming here every September for eight years and we have raised about £100,000 for Helen and Douglas House in that time.”
The show stars Richard Suart — a well-know performer of Gilbert and Sullivan works — Catriona Clark, Laura Kelly, Nicholas Ransley and David Stephenson and the show will include music from Handel’s Messiah as well as arias from La Bohème, Die Fledermaus, The Pearl Fishers and Cosi Fan Tutte among others. Richard Suart’s set will include songs by Noël Coward. The performance on Saturday, December 7 at 7.30pm lasts for two hours with an interval for wine and mince pies. Tickets for the event at Fingest Great Barn (which will be heated) are £35 adults/£15 U16s. Call (01491) 638474.
