SALLY Barker’s voice has the ability to lift the words off the page and, yes, move people to tears.
Millions of viewers tuned in to see Sally’s flawless performances on the BBC’s The Voice last year.
This included a duet with Sir Tom Jones who consistently, sometimes tearfully, championed Sally telling her: “It was just so beautiful that I couldn’t help myself. You swept me off my feet.”
Sally is no newcomer to the music scene; she has recorded six acclaimed solo albums, with songwriting influences from folk, country, soul and blues, and is well respected for her work with all-female folk supergroup The Poozies.
Sally’s years of touring have included supporting the likes of Bob Dylan and Robert Plant. She has continued her association with Sir Tom by supporting him at open-air concerts during summer last year.
Since her appearance on The Voice, Sally’s back catalogue has seen a resurgence of sales. Sally’s album Another Train featured in the official indie charts and ebayers were asking in excess of £100 for second-hand Barker CDs!
Sally’s last solo CD Maid in England was re-released in September and she continues to perform in concert while writing songs for her next solo album due for release in this year.
