A HENLEY-based music publisher will help a composer and pianist’s dream come true this weekend when she launches her first commercially available CD at her Caversham home.
Mozart Records is an offshoot of Mozart Edition (GB) Ltd, which has offices at the Highlands Farm complex, off Greys Road.
The firm has just released
Changing Places by Pamela Chilvers on CD, iTunes, and Spotify.
A qualified music therapist, Pamela has previously produced three CDs herself — the first of which sold 3,000 copies — but
Changing Places is her first commercial release.
Recorded at Angel Studios, Islington, the album features 17 of Pamela’s own instrumental compositions and opens with
Reverie, written for violin and piano.
Pamela said: “We are hoping the music will be used in film, TV and radio. It should get play time on Classic FM and Radio 3.”
The album’s launch takes place on Sunday from noon onwards at 60 Highmoor Road, Caversham.
Added Pamela: “There will be live performances throughout the afternoon and evening and an opportunity for a quiet space in my studio to hear the CD. Wine and canapés will be served and hopefully they will not run out!”
Pamela has previously performed as a piano soloist at venues in Henley, London, Oxford, Maidenhead, Reading and Poole.
As a composer, she writes bespoke works for weddings, christenings, anniversaries, birthdays or other special occasions.
Her background as a music therapist saw her commissioned to write the soundtrack music for the DVD documentary
The Hidden Face of Autism.
As a student at Leeds, Pamela studied with the renowned piano tutor Dame Fanny Waterman, who has just retired this year, aged 95.
She went on to complete a PGCE at the University of Reading, later working as assistant director of music at Highdown School in Emmer Green. She gained her music therapy diploma from the University of Bristol in 1996.
