THE “Rolling Stones of early music” are coming to the Concert Hall in Reading later this month.
Red Priest are the only early music group in the world to have been compared in the press to the Rolling Stones, Jackson Pollock, the Marx Brothers, Spike Jonze and the Cirque du Soleil.
Following the success of their previous programmes of Bach (“Johann, I’m Only Dancing”) and Vivaldi (“Carnival of the Seasons”), Red Priest will take us on a whirlwind tour through the music of that other titan of the baroque, George Frederick Handel. “Handel in the Wind” features sonatas, chaconnes and virtuoso variations, transcriptions both sublime and tempestuous and an audacious suite drawn from his most celebrated work, Messiah.
Red Priest play the Concert Hall in Blagrave Street, Reading, on Saturday, January 30. The concert starts at 7.30pm.
