NETTLEBED Folk Song Club is nearing the end of its 40th season — with three special concerts planned to celebrate its impending 41st birthday.
Club spokesman Mike Sanderson said: “On July 4th we have the Kate Rusby Band and we are grateful for our friends at the Berkshire Fiesta Centre and Drivepay of Padworth and Crays Pond for their sponsorship of this special show.
“Priority is being given to our regular and Village Club members so get your application in quickly — to be sure of availability call to check.
“The second show on July 11th with Show of Hands has already sold out and the last show on July 18th is our 40th birthday year finale night — a special showcase with acoustic Feast of Fiddles, including Peter Knight and Hugh Crabtree et al, Megan Henwood, Jackie Oates, Kith & Kin, Bruce Gomersall and more.”
Meanwhile, folk/acoustic duo Gilmore & Roberts are the star attraction on Monday (June 6), combining award-winning songwriting with astounding musicianship and their trademark harmonies to create a powerful wall of sound.
Nominated three times at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Katriona Gilmore (fiddle, mandolin) and Jamie Roberts (guitar) met while studying at Leeds College of Music and released their debut album in 2008. Their fourth album, Conflict Tourism, came out last year.
The show starts at 8pm and tickets are £13 in advance. For more details of this and future concerts, and to book, call 01628 636620 or visit www.nettlebedfolkclub.co.uk
