THE next Opera Prelude lecture recital, “Villains and Cads!”, takes place at Christ Church in Reading Road next Friday, October 31 (11am to 1pm).

Bass baritone Jacob Bettinelli and award-winning pianist Francesca Lauri will look at the dark side of the male voice. From the dastardly Don Giovanni to the vile Scarpia and a host of incarnations of Mefistofeles by Boito, Stravinsky and Berlioz, the lecture recital may be a good time to catch Jacob as his star is in the ascendancy.

Tickets cost £30. For more information, visit operaprelude.org/ regional-events/ villains-and-cads
