THE fraught relationship between a teenage girl and her mother, who had her when she was a teenager herself, is ruptured further when tragedy hits in Regretting You (12A), out today at the Regal Picturehouse in Henley.
Directed by Josh Boone and adapted from the novel by Colleen Hoover, young mother Morgan Grant (Allison Williams) and daughter Clara (Mckenna Grace) struggle to find a way through when Chris (Scott Eastwood), Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father, is killed in a car crash along with Morgan’s sister, Jenny (Willa Fitzgerald).
Clara’s classmate, Miller (Mason Thames), provides support and Jenny’s husband, Jonah (Dave Franco), is there for Morgan. The film has a running time of just under two hours.
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere (12A) is a musical biopic about New Jersey rock star Bruce Springsteen and how he came to create his 1982 solo album, Nebraska, shortly before he and the E Street Band hit the big time with Born in the U.S.A.
Directed by Scott Cooper, Jeremy Allen White plays Springsteen, with Jeremy Strong as his manager, Jon Landau. The film has a running time of just under two hours.
On Sunday, the Green Screen event series returns with The Line We Crossed (15). The film has a running time of just under two hours and will be followed by a question and answer session.
Kids’ caper Pets on a Train (PG) follows Hans, a vengeful badger, as he rounds up a group of pets. Falcon the raccoon steps up to try and save the day.
Real-life mother and daughter, Imelda Staunton and Bessie Carter, star in NT Live’s Mrs Warren’s Profession (12A), George Bernard Shaw’s critique of Victorian society and its crushing effects on women. The film has a running time of just under two hours.
