Heartbreak for Henley as Blues edge out close encounter

HENLEY HAWKS U13s narrowly lost out 30-27 to WOKINGHAM BLUES U13s in their fifth ever Berkshire Junior League match.

The Hawks began brightly in the first quarter, moving the ball well through the court. Despite their good start, Wokingham capitalised on a few early turnovers to edge ahead 8-6.

In the second quarter, Henley continued to work hard, showing improved structure and patience in attack. Wokingham remained clinical under the post and extended their advantage to 15-10 by half-time.

The third quarter saw Henley outscore Wokingham, narrowing the gap to 20-19.

The final quarter was an end-to-end battle, with Henley matching Wokingham goal for goal. Despite their spirited comeback and impressive teamwork, Wokingham managed to hold their nerve in the closing minutes, securing a three-goal win.

Henley’s players-of-the-match were centre Daisy Gosforth and goal shooter Mabel Reed-Ryan.
