IN a busy veterinary clinic there is never enough time to really get to know each patient and discuss their healthcare.

Pets can also be so stressed by a visit to the vet that their symptoms may be hidden.

Local vet and Henley resident Chris Furley has launched a new mobile consultancy service for pet owners in Henley and the surrounding areas.

As the former head vet at Singapore Zoo, Chris is used to treating animals in all types of environments.

This enables him to use his knowledge of the natural biology of the animal and apply it for the benefit of household pets and exotics.

He aims to work more closely with owners to improve their pet’s health, saying: “By treating pets in their own homes and building deeper relationships with the animals and their owners, I can have a much better understanding of the animal’s individual character, seeing it in its own environment, where it feels safe and secure. This makes it easier to develop the animal’s trust and assess their health requirements.”

Chris aims to have flexible consultation hours that suit busy working families and will also offer consultations by Skype.

Having grown up in Africa, Chris has previously worked in the Persian Gulf, Europe, South East Asia and central Africa, and has published numerous articles in both popular and scientific publications.
