TWO Devon musicians return to play Nettlebed Folk Club’s next gig on Monday (November 24).

The club’s patron, Phil Beer, from Show of Hands, will be joined by his original duo partner, Paul Downes.

They first appeared at Nettlebed as Downes and Beer in the Seventies, reforming again for its 50th anniversary show in the summer.

Their last album was Live at Nettlebed and the club organisers thought they should have another evening for themselves.

Paul and Phil were members of Bill Zorn’s Arizona Smoke Review. Paul concentrated on his solo work and collaborations with the Joyce Gang and Mick Ryan, while Phil formed Show of Hands with Steve Knightley.

Downes and Beer play The Village Club in High Street, Nettlebed, on Monday at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20 in advance or £21 on the door.
