RESIDENTS in the Henley area are being encouraged to change the way they dispose of litter while on the go.
Up to 70 per cent of things put into public litter bins could be recycled if taken home, says South Oxfordshire District Council, the waste authority.
But once recyclables are mixed with food waste and other rubbish in litter bins they can’t be recycled and must be thrown away.
The council has launched the “Take It Home” campaign to urge residents to take empty bottles and cans home for recycling.
